GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY May 3, 2008

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONIES
Groundbreaking Ceremonies for the Panhandle ISD Building and Renovation Project took place Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony was held on the old elementary school playground where the new elementary building will be located. The Panhandle Board of Trustees, administration, and several school employees and community members took part in the ceremony.

CONSTRUCTION STREET CLOSURE
Beginning May 5, 2008, the block between Main and Euclid on 9th Avenue will be CLOSED to traffic and parking. This block will be part of the construction site for the PISD Building and Renovation Project.

Traffic patterns around the school will change. Parents dropping off students at the elementary school will still be able to use the front of the school but will have to travel west on 9th and then turn south down Main Street, or travel north on Main Street and turn right onto 9th Avenue.

We will endeavor to have additional crossing guards on duty beginning May 5, 2008, to assist with the flow of traffic. We have also asked the Panhandle Police Department to assist us during this transition.

We will all have many opportunities to exercise patience during the next several months. Our patience will be rewarded in August, 2009, when our students return from summer break to our new facilities.
